Free Limited to 20 Participants

Throughout Lowell’s history, the Merrimack has been the city’s most vital resource – a source of food, transportation, communication, recreation, mill power, and drinking water. Join John Macone, Education and Policy Director of the Merrimack River Watershed Council, as we explore Lowell’s riverfront, learn about the river’s past, its current condition, and the hopes and challenges for its future.

This is event is part of the annual Lowell City of Learning Festival, which is a project under the fiscal sponsorship of the Greater Lowell Community Foundation. We will gather at the Textile Memorial Merrimack River Overlook, located in the vicinity of 189 Pawtucket Street, and we’ll proceed for about a mile and a half along the Merrimack River river walk, then back to the Textile Memorial Merrimack Overlook park. We have room for 20 participants, and registration is required.
