Contradictory Place: Cotton Mills Alongside Anti-Slavery Efforts in Lowell, Massachusetts

A discussion with UMass Lowell Professor Robert Forrant with a video excerpt describing the extraordinary anti-slavery efforts taking place in Lowell in the mid-19th century when the cotton mills, which relied on enslaved labor in the South, were at their peak.  Prof. Robert Forrant and Maritza Grooms visit the sites that still exist in downtown Lowell where abolitionist activity occurred, including a stop on the Underground Railroad.
